London-Paris 2011
The British Paralympic Association (BPA), brand name ParalympicsGB, is a registered charity which is responsible for selecting, preparing, entering, funding and managing Britain's teams at the Paralympic Games and Paralympic Winter Games. The invitation to participate in the Paralympic Games is to ParalympicsGB as the National Paralympic Committee for Great Britain.
The Paralympic Games take place once every four years (with a Winter Games two years after each summer edition of the Games) in the same city and year as the Olympic Games. They are an elite multi-sport event for athletes with a disability and are a direct "parallel" to the Olympic Games - hence the name.
St Joseph & The Helpers Charity was set up in 2004. The charity's mission is to help the people of Bosnia Herzegovina as they struggle to recover from the Yugoslav wars. 250,000 people were killed and almost 2 million people were left homeless or became refugees - too frightened, even now, to return home due to ethnic cleansing.
The charity aim to relieve poverty and advance education whilst respecting varying religions and cultures. They have built a kindergarten at Kiseljak for 150 children, an orphanage/kindergarten at Novi Travnik, a nursing home for 30 residents at Vionica and a Community Centre/Sports Hall in the grounds of Mother's Village Orphanage. The Hall is available to the orphans, the local community and schools.
The directors of St Joseph & The Helpers personally cover all administration costs. Therefore, 100% of all donations reach the projects. Your help is invaluable and will be greatly appreciated as they try to rebuild a broken society.
